One hundred and thirty-five suspects were arrested by Ekurhuleni North police stations’ officers, including Thembisa SAPS, between March 20 and 22.
Twenty-seven were arrested for driving their vehicles while under the influence of alcohol, 19 for assault and four for cases relating to domestic violence, 16 for possession of stolen property, 15 for shoplifting and 11 for possession of drugs.
Other suspects were nabbed for cases ranging from possession of unlicensed firearms, theft, kidnapping, attempted rape, attempted murder and robbery.
Capt Nelda Sekgobela, the Ekurhuleni District communications officer, said four suspects were taken in to Kempton Park SAPS for questioning after a warehouse in Isando distributing items to pharmacies was robbed by suspects driving a white Iveco on Saturday morning.
“The warehouse is also distributing items to clothing shops. Two suspects were arrested in Rabie Ridge for attempted murder after a 42-year-old victim was shot and choked by the suspects,” said Sekgobela.
All the suspects are expected to appear in their respective magistrate’s courts to face their charges.
