Three suspects arrested for various offences

Acting on a tip-off from concerned members of the community, the EMPD STT responded and arrested three suspect on various offences.

Three male suspects have been arrested for various criminal offences on March 24 after a tip-off from concerned members of the communities of Jiyane and Ethafeni sections.

EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said: “Acting on a tip-off from concerned members of the community, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Specialised Task Team responded to the community member’s call.”

“Three wanted suspects who are 17, 27 and 29-years of age were arrested at 5am, at Jiyane and Ethafeni sections,” said Mokheseng.

The suspects were wanted by the police for attempted murder, theft, rape, business robbery, hijacking of motor vehicles.

“The suspects were wanted for various offences that include possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition,” explained Mokheseng.

He said the suspects were cornered and apprehended by the EMPD Specialised Task Team, in Thembisa area where an unlicensed firearm with serial numbers tampered with, was confiscated.

“The trio facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearm with ammunition and outstanding’s, were taken to Thembisa police station,” he said.

“They are expected to appear in the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court soon,” concluded Mokheseng.
