Rabie Ridge SAPS arrested a suspect from Kanana Extension 4 for the possession of unlicensed firearms on March 29 after they got a tip-off from a community member.
Communications officer Const Jacob Nhlongo said: “Police were given information by a community member when they were patrolling. They were told of a person who has in his position two unlicensed firearms.”
Nhlongo said the police went to the described house and upon arrival, they found the person that was described to them as the suspect.
“Permission for a search was granted and two firearms were recovered. One 9mm was found on the suspect’s waist, while the other one was hidden under the bed inside a blue bag,” said Nhlongo.
Nhlongo said that the suspect was arrested and detained at the Rabie Ridge police station. He added that the suspect will appear at the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
“Sgt Eddie Ngwako Selotola, who is the sector manager, also thanked the community of Kanana that is working with the police, to keep the good work up,” said Nhlongo.
