Gogo Digasho enjoys 70th birthday celebrations

She has been living in Thembisa for almost five decades.

Gogo Lydia Digasho from Moteong section in Thembisa celebrated her 70th birthday on March 21.

Born March 16, 1950, the 70-year-old celebrated her day of birth with family members who gathered around as they sang and wished her more years.

According to Gogo Digasho, the family cooked on her behalf and brought a delicious cake in her honour.

“I had the best slice of the cake. I can’t believe it has been almost 48 years that I have resided Thembisa,” she said.

Gogo Digasho moved to Thembisa in 1972 from Alexandra township.

“God blessed me with five children and 11 grandchildren. Seeing them all play around and grow fulfils me. My husband, Phillip, paid lobola for me in 1966.”

The young at heart 70-year-old says it has been choices that keep her young and strong.

“I do not eat butter/margarine. I still eating my vegetables and traditional dishes a lot and only drink rooibos tea,” she said.
