Taxi app puts everything you need to know at your finger tips

The youth of South Africa have came together to develop the Kwela app, an all-in-one taxi app that assist commuters.
The Kwela app was developed two years ago by Skhona Khumalo to assist commuters with information pertaining to taxi prices, taxi routes and nearest taxi ranks.
Khumalo says Kwela is a digital taxi rank for the commuters in which they can find all the information from the taxi industry at their fingertips.
“Its a user-friendly app which uses less data, but its free to download from Google Play. This app becomes your navigating tool in your pocket.
“For instance, if you want to travel from Thembisa to Durban, just to go to the app and navigate to the nearest taxi rank instead of asking around.
“It lets the user know which taxi rank is open or closed, which routes the taxis use and it shows your current location. In addition, it also has all the information about Covid-19.
“There are guidelines issued by the Department of Health in regards to Covid-19. Users of the app can also chat to one another through the Kwela Forum. Users can hide their details at any time. Just download and register with your email and you are good to go.
“We have over 10 000 users so far countrywide,” said Khumalo.
