Police officer retires after 34 years in the service
n 2015 he went to Kempton Park Police Station as head of crime prevention where he remained until his retirement.
SAPS Ekurhuleni members gathered at the district boardroom on April 1 to say goodbye to their colleague Malesela Abraham Mapulane.
Mapulane handed over his badge and waved goodbye to his work after serving the police force for over 34 years. He joined the police in 1986 and served the community of Thembisa for many years.
In 1990 he was promoted to sergeant and in 1994 to warrant officer. In 1996 he completed his diploma in police administration and was promoted captain the following year.
Mapulane said in 2000 he was promoted to the rank of a lieutenant colonel and worked as a VIP training manager.
“In 2004 I worked at OR Tambo International Airport and in 2006 I was promoted to the rank of a full colonel and placed at the Railway Police in Johannesburg where I was responsible for four stations, namely Canada, Krugersdorp, Stratford and Park Station,” said Mapulane.
In 2012 he worked for the Railway Police under Gauteng Province and was later transferred to the Thembisa Cluster. In 2015 he went to Kempton Park Police Station as head of crime prevention where he remained until his retirement.
Ekurhuleni District Commissioner Major General Vincent Leshabane said Col Mapulane would always be remembered for his good conduct of operations around the district.
“He must keep on advising the younger members of the police to grow and make their mark too,” said Leshabane.
