ANC branch donates food to the needy in Ivory Park

Ward 132 calls on people to help raise funds to donate to more needy people.

At the the Ivory Park Community Hall on April 11, ANC branch 132 donated food parcels and sanitisers to 64 families from Ivory Park.

Khomotso Pheeha, Ward 132 secretary, said she is responsible to promote Covid-19 community outreach programmes and campaigns to reach people and show they care.

“As community leaders, we are saying people should continue to stay at home and be safe. Our job is to help those who cannot make ends meet,” said Pheeha.

“We came up with this initiative because we know there is poverty and people are in need, with or without the lockdown. This virus just worsened our situations at homes,” Pheeha added.

The ANC zonal leadership of the Greater Midrand area are ready to donate food to citizens of Ivory Park.

Honours Mukharhi, branch chairperson of Ward 132, said included in the parcels were two litres of cooking oil, two packets soya mince, two tins pilchards, two soaps, five face masks and sanitisers to encourage continuous hygiene.

“Some branch members donated cash and others bought the goods themselves.

“We hope to get more sponsors so we can reach more people and do this again before the end of the month. Anyone who would like to donate can call our branch secretary on 063 5313775,” said Mukhari.

Melody Hlatswayo, deputy zonal chairperson, said people must stay at home to ensure their safety and well-being.

“We appreciate any kind of help at this stage. We wish to reach even greater targets,” said Hlatswayo.
