23 arrested on highways for breaking lockdown regulations

The arrests were made by Benoni Flying Squad

Benoni Flying Squad members arrested 23 people over the weekend for contravening lockdown regulations.

W/O Grant Giblin, spokesperson for the flying squad, said the arrests were made on the R21 and N12.

After following up information on Friday at around 7pm, a suspect was found in Inxiweni Section in Thembisa with dagga in a room weighing in excess of 11kg. He was arrested immediately and the dagga confiscated.

Another suspect was arrested in Geduld, Springs on a warrant of arrest for business breaking.

In further policing operations, a suspect was arrested with a stolen white Isuzu in Vivian Street, Daveyton. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Daveyton shortly before being recovered.

A white Toyota Hilux bakkie, reported stolen in Etwatwa, was recovered abandoned on Ringo Street in Thembisa, said Giblin.
