Slight increase in Covid-19 cases in Ekurhuleni

There are currently 65 people in hospital.

On April 25, 287 cases of Covid-19 had been reported in Ekurhuleni.

Ekurhuleni North, which includes Kempton Park, Edenvale, Thembisa and Bapsfontein, had the highest number of cases in the metro at 116, five more than on April 22.

Ekurhuleni South (Alberton, Boksburg, Germiston, Bedfordview, Katlehong, Vosloorus, Thokoza and Duduza) recorded 81 cases, while Ekurhuleni East (Springs, Benoni, Brakpan, Kwa-Thema, Tsakani, Daveyton, Etwatwa, Wattville, Nigel and Alra Park) had 58 cases.

There were 32 unallocated cases.

In Gauteng, Johannesburg still has the most cases (772), followed by Ekurhuleni (287), Tshwane (132), Sedibeng (15), West Rand (42).

The total number of cases in Gauteng were at 1 304 on April 25, with 855 recoveries and eight deaths. Out of the 8 015 contacts traced, 3 621 people have completed the 14-day monitoring period with no symptoms reported.
