Cat, with a street value of R50 000, was confiscated by Benoni Flying Squad and the suspected dealer was arrested near the municipal swimming pool on Wednesday.
W/O Grant Giblin, spokesperson for the flying squad, said members were patrolling in the area at around 2.30pm when they spotted a suspicious person on the corner of Commissioner and Pienaar streets.Inside a handbag, a large quantity of Cat was discovered in plastic bags.
It is alleged the suspect was selling the drugs from the scene. The suspect was arrested immediately and the drugs confiscated.
On the same day at 10.30am, the same members were conducting a vehicle check point on the R555 near the N12 on-ramp.
Giblin said a white Honda Ballade was stopped and upon searching the vehicle, a large quantity of loose dagga, weighing in excess of 5.5kg, was found in a black bag inside the boot.
The driver was arrested and the dagga confiscated.
