Rules how to use your wheelie bin

All supplied wheelie bins remain the property of the municipality

The City of Ekurhuleni reminds residents to always take care of their 240l wheelie bins.

Here are a few rules regarding wheelie bins:

• Put out your wheelie bin at 7am on your collection day.

• Remove your bin from the pavement as soon as possible after it has been emptied.

• Make sure your bin is closed to avoid littering and rodent access.

• All supplied wheelie bins remain the property of the municipality and should not be painted a different colour or marked in such a way that the City of Ekurhuleni emblem is not visible.

• If you are moving house, the wheelie bin remains at the address it was originally allocated to.

• No additional refuse bags to be placed next to the bin.

The following should not be disposed of inside the wheelie bin:

• Rocks and soil, commercial, industrial or building waste

• Car batteries, gas cylinders, motor oil and solvents

• Firearms and explosives

• Dead animals and any hazardous items
