Emfihlweni residents get food parcels
They also gave out flyers and posters to provide the community with relevant information
Ezra Matlala Attorneys donated food parcels worth R20 000 to the community of Thembisa in Emfihlweni section on May 9.
This was after the Emfihlweni sectional committee took an initiative to invite the law firm to lend a helping hand by donating.
The committee volunteers to help Emfihlweni community members with social, domestic, civil and crime-related challenges.
Glen Semenya, spokesperson for the Emfihlweni sectional committee, said: “Social problems have risen overnight and the poor have paid the price dismally. The majority of community members have gone two to three days without food.
“This was our way of giving support to those who are struggling to make ends meet, since some have been stopped from going to work and they don’t have any form of income which makes it hard for them to provide for their families.
“We also gave out flyers and posters to provide the community with relevant information on how to obtain food parcels from the Department of Social Development,” explained Semenya.
