True Gospel Church donates food parcels in Ivory Park
Mncube added that they often visit the beneficiaries on their list
True Gospel Church donated food packages to at least 66 families during the level four lockdown on Saturday.
On May 8, families around the border lines of Ivory Park and Thembisa gathered together to collect food packages of mixed vegetables and other essential products at Leboeng.
Pastor Florance Mncube said it has been always her passion to give back to the community.
“We receive donations from various sponsors, including Pick n Pay, Food Forward, and Genesis. This donation to the community came after we had closed our centre because of coronavirus. The centre worked as a feeding scheme centre where we used to cook after mealfor kids after school.
“We operate mainly from Thembisa since our church base is at Inqcayizivele High School. We came to Ivory Park because we found a place to operate at where we cook for kids. In addition, we decided that since we are closed how about we identify people who are really in need of our help and help them”
Mncube added that they often visit the beneficiaries on their list to assess whether or not they are really in need. Elders, pensioners, the disabled, orphans or sick are always first priority.Mirriam Letswalo, a recipient from Ivory Park, said the package would last her at least two weeks on a strict budget.
“It will offload at least some weight and we will be working to add to what we have where possible because I live with my two grandchildren.”
