Local church distributes food parcels
'We will always have the poor among us, therefore, it is important we reach out to them and make provisions.'
Christ Ambassadors Ministry in in Kempton Park distributed over 500 food parcels to residents on May 5.
According to the founder, Dr Idah Peterside, the church’s mission is to bring hope, comfort, support and lend a helping hand to those in need during the coronavirus pandemic.
“People need spiritual and material help. We will always have the poor among us, therefore, it is important we reach out to them and make provisions.
“The church is doing a lot and needs more support. We’ve made ourselves available if people want to help. They can call the church on 079 675 6088 and we will help as much as we can,” said Peterside.
“The role of the church is very important as it makes sure it brings hope to the people. Churches are closed but thank God for technology, most pastors are reaching their people online, which is very important because faith and hope come by hearing.
“We can’t give up now. We are praying and asking God for his mercy.
“People in self-isolation must have hope with one fact in mind, that this too shall pass and life will one day return to normal. We cannot be careless and must continue to keep safe.
“Students have means to study online and should continue to work hard. The poor among us are the hardest hit and we ask people with the means to help as much as possible,” said Peterside.
