Two nabbed with cigarettes worth R26 000

Police acted on a tip-off received

Acting on a tip-off, Kempton Park SAPS, together with the K9-Unit, nabbed two suspects for illegally selling cigarettes worth R26 000 on Pretoria Road in Kempton Park CBD on May 15.

The suspects, aged 33 and 30, were arrested for the Contravention of the Disaster Management Act of selling cigarettes during lockdown.

According to Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson Sgt Dipuo Ditshego, the police recovered 44 boxes of Pine Blue and Ceaser Golden cigarettes with an estimated value of R26 000.

“Kempton Park station commander Brig Samuel Maredi thanked the members for their quick response. He also encouraged the community to work with the police to win the battles against crimes,” said Ditshego.
