Noise in door leads to illegal firearms

Police seized the silver Toyota and four illegal firearms with ammunition

Three suspects were arrested while trying to flee from members of Gauteng Traffic Department who were conducting a roadblock on Saturday.

Upon searching their vehicle, four unlicensed firearms and ammunition were discovered hidden in one of the doors.

Sebenza SAPS spokesperson Sgt Sharon Tsotsotso said the incident occurred around 9.30am opposite China Gate Shopping Centre.

“One suspect jumped from the vehicle and tried to flee on foot but he was caught. The members opened the front passenger door and heard a noise inside the door. Upon further investigation, they found three 9mm pistols and one revolver hidden inside the door.

“Police seized the silver Toyota and four illegal firearms with ammunition. The three men, aged between 28 and 40, were arrested and charged with possession of unlicensed firearms,” said Tsotsotso.
