Yende continues giving food parcels to community

Those who were able to get food parcels could not contain their happiness.

Victoria Yende gave the people of Thembisa food parcels on May 20.

Since the lockdown started, Yende has been donating food parcels to people in Giyane, in her section. She said that she does not plan to stop anytime soon.

“I thought to myself that I should also donate to the whole of Thembisa, not just Giyane. This way, it will put me at ease knowing that I am doing something good for the people of Thembisa,” said Yende.

Those who were able to get food parcels could not contain their happiness. Elizabeth Gama, who is from Thafeni, said that she heard her neighbour talking about how Yende was donating food parcels to a number of people in Thembisa.

“When I heard that this time she was not only donating to residents of Giyane, but in other areas as well I was happy because it meant that I could also get food parcels,” said Gama.

Mary Mnisi, from Esselen Park Extension Three, was also happy to receive a food parcel. “These food parcels that we get are helping us. Since I do not work, this means a lot. I am thankful to Victoria and everyone who is willing to lend a helping in these trying times,” said Mnisi.

Yende said that she was happy that she could be of assistance to her community. She explained that she helps whenever she can.

“Being able to help people who are in need is fulfilling to me and I am always thankful to everyone who is also willing to help those who are in need of the help. It makes a difference in people’s lives when one helps others and that is what I am trying to do,” said Yende.
