Allen Park resident who tested positive for Covid-19 has recovered
A new permit system has been introduced
The female Allen Park resident (71) who tested positive for Covid-19 on April 9 is healthy and back home after being discharged form Life The Glynnwood Hospital in Benoni.
This was confirmed by André Naude, Kempton Park Council for the Aged CEO.
Naude said none of the other residents had tested positive for the coronavirus.
When the health and well-being of Allen Park residents were discussed, he explained: “They are all fairly well. However, Mother’s Day was particularly a hard time for them since they had not been able to see their families.”
How does the staff at Allen Park try to cheer them up?
“Three times a week, music is played on speakers so everyone can hear. Additionally, we send out encouraging WhatsApp messages that seek to build morale.”
Naude said all staff members were well, healthy and on the clock at work.
Allen Park has reinstated a permit system which enables residents to leave the premises for essential goods and services since April 22. Residents are allowed to leave the premises on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Naude has urged residents not to visit one another during this time and to ensure social distancing of one metre from one another.
“Please wear masks and remember to sanitise your shoes. One doesn’t know what you’ve stepped in and it could potentially spread the virus. Sanitise, sanitise, sanitise!”
