Employee at Festival Mall store tests positive for Covid-19

All staff who were in direct contact with the employee have been placed in self-quarantine.

A staff member at one of Festival Mall’s stores tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.

Daphne Smith, centre manager at Festival Mall, confirmed that the staff member is an employee at Signature Cosmetics.

“The store underwent forensic deep cleaning by specialists and all staff who were in direct contact with the employee have been placed in self-quarantine.

“This procedure is guided by the approach of the Department of Health and National Institute of Communicable Diseases.”

Smith also told Express that the store received its cleaning certification after fumigation on Monday and is open for trade again.

“The health and safety of everyone visiting and working at Festival Mall remains our primary focus as we fight the Covid-19 pandemic together,” said Smith.

“We remind everyone that access to Festival Mall is only granted to those wearing a face mask which covers their mouth and nose. We encourage all our tenants and shoppers to practice good personal hand, sneeze and cough hygiene as well as social distancing at all times, as it is key to preventing the spread of Covid-19.”

Express was unable to get comment from Signature Cosmetics at the time of publishing.
