Bonaero Park pub closed down by police
Alcohol was sold at the premises during lockdown
A Bonaero Park pub was closed down by Kempton Park SAPS on May 19 for non-compliance of lockdown regulations.
Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, said officers visited the Crew Room on Geldenhuys Street around 8pm.
“We found alcohol was being sold at the premises. A 51-year-old person was arrested, the alcohol confiscated and the pub closed,” said Mtshali.
A resident, who lives across the street from the establishment, complained to Kempton Express on April 13 about loud music coming from the pub the previous evening.
“On Sunday, April 12, the police were called again, as you could hear the loud music from the Crew Room. The police came but nothing happened. Five minutes after the police left, even the disco lights were switched on. And the music was as loud as ever.”
According to the resident, residents were in the process of starting a petition against the pub but the lockdown came before this could be done.
“There are people working shifts and elderly residents who do not appreciate the loud music. When the pup eventually closes, patrons race down Atlas Road as if it is a race track.”
