Drugs worth over R1-m seized at house on Friedman Street

Many cellphones were found in one of the rooms

Two suspects were arrested for dealing drugs on a property on Friedman Street on Tuesday morning last week.

This came after the metro police received a tip-off of people selling drugs at one of the backrooms on the property.

“Following the tip-off, metro police rushed to the premises where they found three suspects. Two ran when police arrived. The members gave chase and managed to apprehend one,” said Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“The other suspect was found in one of the two rooms where it is suspected they operated from. The rooms were searched, which is where they found various drugs, including crystal meth, khat and cocaine. The street value is estimated at R1-million, but it could be more.”

Mtshali said the house on the premises was also searched, but no drugs were found. Many cellphones were found in one of the rooms. It is unclear who the cellphones belong to.

Two suspects, aged 39 and 45, were arrested on charges of dealing drugs after being found in possession of drugs with a street value of R1-million.
