Pedestrian killed in truck accident near Highveld Road
Paramedics were flagged down by the police
A male pedestrian was killed when he was knocked down by a truck on the corner of Highveld and Pomona roads on Monday evening.
According to Ineke van Huyssteen, ER24 spokesperson, ER24 paramedics were on their way back to the branch when they were flagged down by members of the police just before 7pm.
Paramedics found a man lying in the road. Unfortunately, the man had sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.
The driver of the truck sustained no injuries.
In another pedestrian accident shortly before 6am on Monday,another pedestrian died after being hit by a truck on the R21 north near Nellmapius Drive.
According to Shawn Herbst, spokesperson for Netcare 911, reports from the scene indicated the man was struck by a truck while running across the road.
Medics assessed the patient and found he had sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene
