Street robberies are prevalent in Norkem Park precinct

Be vigilant while walking outside

Norkem Park Police are investigating a case of robbery after a pedestrian was robbed of all his belongings along Umngandane Street in Birch Acres on June 2.

According to Norkem Park police spokesperson Sgt Johana Madiga the pedestrian was robbed of a cellphone after the suspect got out of a Toyota Corolla and pulled out a gun. The suspect fled the scene.

“Street robberies are becoming a problem around Norkem Park. Residents are targeted while walking on the streets or being followed from the shops. People should avoid using cellphones while walking outside and be alert at all times. They must become vigilant to people following them,” said Madiga.
