Covid-19: Festival Mall store employee on her way to recovery

All other staff members tested negative

Signature Cosmetics at Festival Mall is open for trade after one of its employees tested positive for Covid-19.

According to Lehandri Verster, marketing and product development supervisor for Signature Cosmetics and Fragrances, the store was notified of the positive results on May 23.

“The employee started feeling ill and self-medicated herself and stayed at home until May 21 when she consulted a doctor. The results came back positive on May 23,” said Verster.

“We didn’t commence trade for two days (May 24-25) until we managed to get a cleaning/sanitising company to fully sanitise the store and to issue us with a certificate of clearance advising that the store was fully sanitised and that we could re-open to the public.”

Vestser said the store commenced trade on May 26.

“We re-opened the store to the public after we received our certificate permitting us to trade and also placed a new team in the store while the other staff were isolated, awaiting their test results,” explained Verster.

All their test results for Covid-19 came back negative.

“Customers and staff are our number one priority. We had already put measures in place before one of our staff members tested positive which includes allowing a limited number of customers at a time and taking customers’ temperature.”

Verster told Express the employee who tested positive was not in contact with any customers and that the results of all the staff who was working with her came back negative but they would remain in isolation for 14 days.

“We will ensure that all the staff are tested again in order to ensure they are still clear of the virus and healthy enough to return to the workplace,” said Verster.

“On a positive note, our employee is fine and well and on the road to recovery. We would like to ensure all customers that are our number one priority is to ensure the store offers customers a clean and healthy environment with a healthy staff compliment to serve them.

“We encourage all customers to keep their face masks on, even while shopping as it’s important. Social distancing is important too. We will continue to assist the government to flatten the curve by the continued effort in ensuring our staff and the public comply with all the rules and regulations pertaining to the Covid 19 pandemic.”
