Molekwa follows her dreams despite all obstacles
'My goal is to become the first black short woman to win a massive pageant since we are told that we are not tall or skinny enough to model.'
Ivory Park-based Tshepiso Promise Molekwa has embraced her scars in the run for Exclusive Kings and Queens of Mzantsi beauty pageant.
Growing up, she was told she was not tall enough to join the pageant industry, but today she’s a finalist. Molekwa entered the pageant because she always loved modelling.
“I kept telling myself that will make it in the modelling industry, even though people discouraged me because of my height, skin tone and where I come from. I am willing to get my confidence to the next level where nobody will shake it. I want to be known for the things I have done so far and for embracing my emotional scars.
“I want to show the world how I managed to defy the odds and achieve my goals.”
Molekwa attended Mikateka Primary School where she had her first pageant experience in 2013. Her dreams of changing the landscape of modelling and how people perceive the industry continues.
“My goal is to become the first black short woman to win a massive pageant since we are told that we are not tall or skinny enough to model. This pageant will open doors for me, mainly the journey of entering Miss SA because I would have showed the world that my physical appearance does not determine my future nor stop me from achieving my goals.”
Molekwa is the reigning Miss Ivory Park Secondary School queen 2019/2020 and previously held the Miss Royalty 2016 title.
The Exclusive Kings and Queens of Mzantsi pageant voting lines are currently open to vote for your favourite contestant and bring them closer to walking away with the Public Choice Award.
“People can vote for me every day and they can also share the link with their friends. The link is available on the pageant’s Facebook page @Exclusive Kings And Queens of Mzantsi and on my timeline @Tshepiso Molekwa,” said Molekwa.
