Sanele Khuzwayo (20), a model from Rabie Ridge, has auditioned for the Miss South Africa 2020 pageant.
“I have decided to audition for the Miss South Africa 2020 pageant because I want to build my self-confidence in the modelling industry,” said Khuzwayo.
The second-year public relations student at the University of South Africa said she wants to inspire her peers and for people to look up to her as a role model.
Khuzwayo is no stranger to local pageants. She said she started out when she entered a school pageant when she was 16.

“When I first entered Miss Allanridge Secondary School, it was my first time on stage. I made it to the top 10, which was a big deal to me as it was my first pageant,” said Khuzwayo.

The young model said had it not being for her sister’s passion for modelling, she would not have had the confidence to pull through. As every other model, Khuzwayo also has someone she looks up to in the modelling industry and for her it is Refilwe Modiselle.
“I look up to Modiselle. Looking back at her modelling career one cannot help but be inspired. Her confidence has also pushed me to my limits.”
Modelling has its own challenges and how you deal with the stress and pressure shows how passionate and determined one is in the industry.

“I have my family and friends to thank. The encouragement and support they show me every time has a big impact on my modelling career. They never let me quit and I am grateful to them,” said Khuzwayo.
Although it has not been long since Khuzwayo started with her modelling journey, she has proven that hard work and time management is what one needs to succeed.
“Preparing for an event is never easy, but I already have a routine for preparing a pageant. I practise in front of the mirror and my family before the actual event takes place.”
The 20-year-old has high hopes for the future. She said this journey she is embarking on is the most terrifying yet thrilling thing she has ever done.?Entering Miss South Africa is something I have always wanted to do,? concluded Khuzwayo.
