Armed robber steals medical supply parcel in Glen Marais

An armed robber robbed a courier driver on Vaalboom Street in Glen Marais at around 11am on Wednesday last week.

The robber stole a parcel containing medical supplies.

Sec Pros reaction officer Mike Fourie was on the scene first after he was stopped at the intersection of Monument Road and Vaalboom Street. “The courier driver came running, screaming, ‘they’re trying to kill me, they’re trying to kill me,’” Fourie said.

“I noticed a white Polo near the courier vehicle making a U-turn. While I was turning around, my colleagues arrived in another response vehicle and attempted to block the Polo. The Polo raced around them and continued on Monument towards Pretoria Road.”

Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, confirmed that the detective unit was investigating a case of robbery with a firearm.

“It is alleged the driver of the courier company was delivering medical supply parcels to clients when he was approached by one armed suspect driving a white Polo. The man forcefully took one parcel which was in the back of the courier driver’s car and sped off.”

Mtshali said investigations were continuing and no arrest had been made. The police are relying on anyone with information to contact them on 08600 10111.
