Norkem Park police warn residents against online fraud

Residents should research the credibility of the store before making payments

Norkem Park Police are urging residents to be cautious of ongoing online scams related to phishing and spoofing that have been circulating around Kempton Park.

According to Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson Sgt Johanna Madiga, there is an increase in the number of cases reported involving online fraud.

“Scammers are asking for deposits to be paid before providing the items purchased online or request that the buyer transfers payment electronically.

“The sellers then vanish with the money or the products bought are not delivered. Residents should research the credibility of the store before making payments to avoid being duped.”
