CIT robbers take empty money trolley, gun

"Kempton Park SAPS is investigating a case of robbery with a firearm."

Two armed men approached a cash-in-transit (CIT) officer carrying an empty trolley on Old Pretoria Road on Monday morning just before 11am.

“Personnel from the CIT company went to a business to collect cash and he was told by the shop’s management that there wasn’t any cash to be collected,” Kempton Park SAPS deputy spokesperson Sgt Dipuo Ditshego said.

“The officer went out with the empty cash trolley. Outside, he was approached by two men who pointed firearms at him. The men fled with the empty cash trolley and the officer’s firearm and ammunition.”

Ditshego said the CIT officer was assaulted and was transported to hospital for medical care.

“Kempton Park SAPS is investigating a case of robbery with a firearm.”
