Residents contravening Covid-19 regulations arrested

Three arrests were related to malicious damage to property, in addition to an arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol.

A Norkem Park police operation revealed multiple cases related to contravention of Covid-19 regulations on July 30.

According to the police station’s spokesperson, Sgt Johanna Madiga, a man was found driving in possession of alcohol worth R12 000.

“In another incident a woman was caught in possession of drugs in the form of capsules to the value of R2 000. This was followed by a separate bust in which a cigarette deal worth R1 000 was halted by law enforcement.”

Another separate occurrence led to the arrest of a 37-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm and attempted hijacking.
