Ninety-five suspects were arrested on various charges from July 31 to the early hours of August 2.
The arrests were a result of a joint operation between SAPS, SANDF, EMPD, JMPD and other stakeholders.
“The operation was held by the Ekurhuleni District Zone One police stations including Kempton Park, Norkem Park, Sebenza, Olifantsfontein, Thembisa, Thembisa South, Rabie Ridge and Ivory Park,” said Sgt Dipuo Ditshego, deputy spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“The suspects were arrested for various crimes.
“This included:
- murder,
- theft,
- possession of unlicensed firearm,
- Disaster Management Act contravention,
- shoplifting,
- driving under the influence of alcohol,
- possession of drugs,
- attempted hijacking,
- malicious damage to property,
- rape,
- possession of suspected stolen property,
- truck hijacking,
- business robbery,
- fraud,
- attempted murder,
- dealing in dagga,
- common assault,
- assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH),
- tampering with municipal infrastructure,
- armed robbery and
- house robbery.”
Ditshego also said the arrests were effected as a result of patrols, stop and searches, roadblocks and also visits to liquor outlets to ensure that the Disaster Management Act and its regulations are being adhered to.
