One of two suspects found in possession of panga

The arrests came after a woman and her boxing coach were on their way home and noticed two men trying to lift the gate off its rail at a property on Bosch Avenue.

Two men, one allegedly found in possession of a panga, were arrested yesterday at about 11am on Highveld Road in Kempton Park, outside a fitness club.

Gerald Groenewald, the operations director from Sec Pros said the suspect, although initially admitting to having the panga in his possession, later told police the panga does not belong to him.

The arrests came after a woman and her boxing coach were on their way home and noticed two men trying to lift the gate off its rail at a property on Bosch Avenue.

They noticed another man leave the premises, carrying garden equipment followed by the home owner, running outside and screaming for help. They were followed to Highveld Road where the criminals dropped the goods in their possession and fled in different directions.

The woman and boxing coach informed members of Sec Pros which has offices at the fitness club.

The two were arrested by Sec Pros and police were on the scene for further investigations.
