CPF swiftly trapped one suspect in house during attempted robbery

One suspect, who allegedly attempted a house robbery in Daphne Court on Friday, was outwitted by officials who trapped him inside the house after 4pm until back-up arrived to apprehend him.

One suspect, who allegedly attempted a house robbery in Daphne Court on Friday, was outwitted by officials who trapped him inside the house after 4pm until back-up arrived to apprehend him.

According to the operations director of Sec Pros, Gerald Groenewald, their control room received a request on the ‘Share it Live’ Whatsapp group that urgent assistance had to be dispatched in Long Street.

“The suspect was caught inside the house and was locked inside by a fast-thinking CPF member. Sec Pros reaction units were dispatched and on arrival one male was apprehended by CPF and Sec Pros members on scene,” Groenewald stated.

He said that SAPS arrived and that the scene was officially handed over to police who arrested the suspect and escorted him to Kempton Park SAPS holding cells.

Capt Jethro Mthsali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, confirmed that the incident occurred in Long Street and that one suspect was arrested.

No weapons were found in the commission of the crime.
