Another business robbery unfolded at the corner shop on Duvenhage and Okkerneut avenues on Thursday afternoon at approximately 4pm in which armed men approached the owner.
MML Security received reports of suspect activity at the shop on a WhatsApp group and responded to the scene at 4.42pm and apprehend one suspect.
Andries Lourens, MML’s reactionary manager, said a reaction unit arrived at the scene while four suspects were still in the shop and one suspect was waiting outside in a white Toyota Etios without number plates.
“As our reaction unit arrived, the one suspect in the get-away car fled and left his accomplices in the shop. Back-up was called and the remaining four suspects fled the scene.”
Lourens said three suspects escaped on Duvenhage Avenue to the wetland’s direction on CR Swart Drive, but they apprehended the fourth.

“The owner said the suspects instructed him to lie down as he was serving customers, while his staff members could only watch,”
Kempton Park SAPS deputy spokesperson Sgt Dipuo Ditshego, who was on standby for the Ekurhuleni area, stated.
The owner’s cellphone and wallet, in addition to the staff members’ cellphones, were taken, along with cash and packets of cigarettes.
Ditshego said the suspect, who was apprehended, was found in possession of cellphones, the a wallet and cigarettes.
“The suspect was arrested on charges of business robbery and possession of stolen property,” she confirmed.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court soon.
