Kempton Panorama School envisioned a project called GoKart4Hope to invest productive energy in making a difference in the community.
According to Fransli Buckle, the school’s chief education therapist, the project was initiated by André de Bruin who is the motor mechanic instructor at the school.
“He said after the lockdown a goal for a fund-raiser was identified to help learners in need. De Bruin said it was a privilege to build a go kart from scratch and to teach learners all the required skills to do so,” Buckle stated.
The GoKart4Hope challenge is a fund-raiser for Kempton Panorama School by which each ticket bought will support a learner in need. Tickets are sold at R20 each.
“Kempton Panorama School accommodates learners with special education needs and caters to various disabilities. We offer an adapted curriculum and skills development.”
Some of the school’s learners come from socio-economically disadvantaged communities.

“Due to the specialised nature of the school, learners come from a large feeding area and require school transport as we currently have three school buses driving across the East Rand collecting learners.”
As such, this fund-raiser will support the transport needs of all disadvantaged learners in the school.
Buckle concluded that: “Additional funds will also be allocated to the feeding scheme of underprivileged learners.”
The winner will be announced on December 1 and tickets can be bought from https://www.quicket.co.za/events/118468-gokart4hope/
Alternatively, an email can be sent to the school to arrange for cash purchase at school.panorama@gmail.com
