Môrester Child Centre gets a visit from Santa’s helpers
A Christmas tree was hoisted on a table covered in gifts and treats at Môrester in Birchleigh North
“Our children are blessed and we wish to teach them to acknowledge their privilege and share it with those who crave the same, especially during this festive season.”
These were the words of community members who took hands and pulled their resources together on December 12 to brighten up the holidays of children under the guardianship of Môrester Child and Youth Care Centre.
A Christmas tree was hoisted on a table covered in gifts and treats at Môrester in Birchleigh North after Leonie Rossouw grasped the opportunity to give back with the help of her sponsors.
To set the tone for the day, a violinist and keyboard player performed Christmas songs while the children enjoyed a jumping castle.

The mother of the centre, Salome Pieterse, said this time of year is quite eventful at their home.
“We have a lot of people visiting around this time since there are so many who want to reach out to enrich the hearts of the children and put smiles on their faces. People love to bring gifts and host parties, which is a great gift to us since it brings much-needed exposure and relief,” Pieterse explained.
To her, it’s apparent that the community wants to meet the children and give them love and attention by listening to their stories.
“It means a lot that people are willing to offer emotional support above all else.”
Leonie and her team would like to thank all their sponsors for making the festivities possible: CT Botha & Associates, Realnet Glen Erasmia, Multi Cleaning Solutions, Rising Dragon Tattoo, Nashua North East, SAT Beam Networks, Alta Schwerdtferger, Ilze Oosthuyze, Jeff Gilmoure, Herman Maree, Ruan van Dorsten, Kgotsie Lehula, Denise Meyer, Marius and Babie van der Merwe.
