“It was later found the suspect used to be an employee at the solid waste department. He was recently dismissed due to misconduct."

The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Compliance-Loss Control and Investigation Unit Members arrested a man in Kempton Park and seized stolen fuel on December 17.

Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD spokesperson said the EMPD Crime Fighting Unit caught a 37-year old man illegally draining diesel, using a hose pipe, from a City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) Solid Waste Management Services Nissan Diesel truck, parked at the Civil Engineering municipal premises in Kempton Park at about 5.40pm.

Mokheseng said officers were alerted by the private security personnel patrolling the site.

“It was later found the suspect used to be an employee at the solid waste department. He was recently dismissed due to misconduct.

“Four 25 litre containers filled with diesel were confiscated and an Opel Corsa light delivery vehicle used in commission of the offence was impounded.”

The man faces charges of theft and damage to property.
