Senior citizens can renew their driver’s licence without booking online

The City of Ekurhuleni has set aside four hours at selected centres for pensioners to renew their driver’s licence without online bookings.

According to metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, the City set March 27 as a dedicated date for pensioners to renew their driver’s licence at the Kempton Park, Boksburg and Springs Driver’s Licence Testing Centres (DLTCs) from 8am until midday.

“The City has set aside dedicated resources and will assist any person who is 60 years and older to renew their driver’s licence on the day.”

MMC for Community Safety Clr Pheladi Mmoko said with limited slots available on the eNatis online system, all motorists have been frustrated when they have to renew their driver’s licences.

“As the City, we want to reduce the frustration experienced by our elderly by putting aside resources to make the renewal of driver’s licences convenient for the pensioners. “On the day, pensioners from the City will be exempted from making online bookings; they can just walk into our offices and have their licences renewed but only on March 27 at the selected DLTCs. “It is important to note that this does not apply to all DLTCs in Ekurhuleni,” said Mmoko.

Pensioners need to bring their identity documents, current driver’s licence and two photos. A R228 fee for renewal and R70 for a temporary driver’s licence if the licence has expired.
