King Mzaiza set to teach music lovers about umbhoqo music genre
Mzaiza fused gqom and other genres to create something South Africans will enjoy and dance to.
Sipho Mosime, known as King Mzaiza, recently revealed that he had big plans in store that might lead umbhoqo to be used as the next dance music genre. He aims to teach the community about the music genre influenced by iz’khothane. Umbhoqo is mostly played by iz’khothane and it has a vast following.
The genre is a mixture of Gqom and rap music. According to the artist, iz’khothane can relate to the genre because it depicts the lives of youngsters. King Mzaiza has introduced the genre to big artists in the game, such as Don Dada, DJ Rough, Super Mosha, Ntosh Gazi, the John vuli gate hitmaker and many more.
“I have performed around the country, which led me to gain some fame and putting my music out there. “I only made beats and progressed to songs, which led me to record. “I love spending time on my craft and using music to relieve stress because it’s fun. I look at music as a feeling and if I don’t get the feeling across in my music it just becomes a bunch of sounds and that has no meaning,” said King Mzaiza.
“The best advice I have ever received is that I should believe in my craft and never allow other people to make me second guess my work. Persistence, consistency and hard work pay off,” he added.

“I would like to collaborate with Gento Bareto, who is doing well in the music industry. The internet has played a big role in marketing my music and it also helped me in getting a huge following. “If I could change something in the music industry, it would be to give up-and-coming artists a chance. I have realised that people who are already at the top rarely give promising artists a chance. “I believe that the South African music industry would do better if we would pull each other up and lend a helping hand to the aspiring artists.”
