Flying Squad’s weekend arrests
Three female suspects arrested in connection with a stolen white Volkswagen Polo in Kriel, Emalehleni.

From May 21 to 23, members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) arrested seven suspects, recovered eight motor vehicles, one motorcycle and two firearms.
According to BFS communications officer WO Grant Giblin, members on patrol spotted a suspicious-looking white BMW driving erratically.
Upon halting it, it was discovered that the driver was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and was immediately arrested.
Members also responded to a tip-off regarding a white Volkswagen Polo, which was reported stolen at Kriel in Emalahleni.

“BFS members managed to intercept a vehicle that was stolen, which was travelling on the R25 towards Thembisa and three female suspects were arrested on the scene,” Giblin said.
The following abandoned vehicles were recovered after they were found hijacked in separate locations: A white Volkswagen Polo at Mayibuye Section in Rabie Ridge, which was reported on a Thembisa case, a white Renault Sandero at Republic Road in Ivory Park Extension Eight, which was reported on a Thembisa case, a white Polo at Phomolong Section, which was reported on an Ivory Park case, a white Toyota Hilux at Brazil Street in Etwatwa, which was reported on a Vosman case and a white Kia Sportage at Mpilo Street in Esangweni Section, which was reported on a Rabie Ridge case.
In a separate case, BFS members follow up on information, which led to the arrest of one suspect in Bentel Avenue in Boksburg. The suspect was in possession of a white Big Boy motorcycle reported stolen on a Protea Glen case.
“A white UD truck was recovered in Rooikat Street in Petit after it was reported on an Alberton case. One suspect was arrested.
“Another arrest was also made in Elston Avenue in Benoni after a suspect was allegedly found in possession of nyaope.
“Members also responded to a cash-in-transit robbery in the early hours of May 21 at Van Dyk and Jubilee roads in Brakpan.
“Upon arrival, they found a cash van that had been rammed by a cream Mercedes-Benz. The van had been blown up with explosives to access the cash and the Mercedes was robbed on a Cleveland case,” Giblin said
Further investigations on the scene allegedly led to members recovering two of the security guard’s 9mm firearms with 30 live rounds of ammunition in the field close to the cash van.
Investigations continue in all cases.
