Police found a red Volkswagen Golf, riddled with bullet holes, on the scene.

A Volkswagen Golf was targeted by gunmen on the corner of CR Swart Road and Green Avenue last Monday night.

According to Wian Vrey, a responder from Emer-G-Med, who arrived first on scene, told Express one male was critically injured following what he, by looking at the scene, alleged to be a “taxi hit”.

Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for the Kempton Park SAPS, said they can confirm the provincial task team detective unit has been assigned to investigate an attempted murder incident.

“The victim was found on the side of the road with serious gunshot wounds. The victim was treated by paramedics on scene before he was taken to the nearest hospital for treatment,” Mtshali said.

“At this stage, the investigations are at an advanced stage. Preliminary reports reveal that allegedly an unknown number of suspects in a white Volkswagen Polo, with an unknown registration, fired several rounds at the victim before they escaped,” he said.

The 56-year-old victim was treated on scene on the corner of CR Swart Road and Green Avenue before being transported to the nearest hospital.
