Dann Road Reservoir to start supplying water to residents, businesses
The interruption to bulk water supply is expected from 20:00 on Tuesday (July 20) to 05:00 on Wednesday (July 21).

The new Dann Road Reservoir in Kempton Park will on July 20 be connected to the City’s water reticulation network.
The tie-in will enable the testing of the reservoir before commissioning. The construction of the reservoir started in 2017 and was completed in November 2018.\
“The commissioning of the reservoir was delayed by the procurement of a separate contractor to install the 500mm and 600mm feeder pipelines and required coating and lining of the pipeline,” said Zweli Dlamini, metro’s spokesperson.

“Despite the delays, the City is ultimately delivering another project towards its water security supply promise. The purpose of building the new reservoir was to provide 36-hour water storage for supply to areas of Glen Marais, Glen Erasmia, Pomona and Bredell.”
The project is part of the long-term security of water supply strategy for the greater Kempton Park area.
“This includes the construction of the Bredell 22-megalitre reservoir, Bredell reservoir pump station, a second Kempton Park reservoir and water tower that are under construction, in addition to the Isando water tower that is also under construction,” added Dlamini.
The project is located in Kempton Park, north of the R21 and OR Tambo International Airport.
The connection will result in an interruption to bulk water supply from 20:00 on July 20 to 05:00 the following day.
“No water tankers will be provided as the work will be executed during the night. Customers are requested to make necessary arrangements to store adequate water to utilise during this time.
“The City apologises for the inconvenience caused,” concluded Dlamini.
