Aston Manor Primary proud of Simbine
They said he was humble on and off the sports field.
Akani Simbine made headlines in recent months after he broke the African record for a 100m sprint.
He was also involved in the 100m final of the Olympics in Tokyo, where he came fourth and missed a medal by 0.04 seconds.
Simbine is a former learner of Aston Manor Primary School, where he began his sports journey.

Two of his former athletic coaches, Marietjie Breedt and Carol Hatton, still teach at the Kempton Park school.
“Akani did almost every sport the school offered,” said Breedt.
He played soccer and participated in cross-country.
Teachers commented that as a young boy, Simbine was disciplined and a committed learner.
They said he was humble on and off the sports field.
“He always stayed the same and never changed despite his successes. Sometimes he visits the school to see his old coaches,” said Breedt.
