Nhlanhla Trish Mkhondwane (38) was identified by her mother who reported her missing on August 30.

Investigating officer Sgt Moloantoa paid a visit to the house of Skhosana’s mother.

Moloantoa told his mother to contact her son’s close friends and girlfriend to advise her son that the police were looking for him.

He returned to his mother’s house in October 2018 and she took it upon herself to hand him over to the authorities.

According to the communications officer of Rabasotho SAPS, Capt Manyaza Ralidzhivha, after taking DNA samples, it was discovered that he had sexual intercourse with the victim before strangling her.

“Skhosana was found guilty on both charges on April 22, 2021. He was sentenced and the rape penalty is to run concurrently with the murder sentence, which is life imprisonment.

“Gender-based violence can be defeated if we all stand up and speak out against it,” said Ralidzhivha.
