Inhlanzeko cleans up the community

Organisation brings people together to remove litter and waste from the community.

Inhlanzeko is calling for the support of the residents in Thembisa to help keep the community clean.

Its mission is to enhance the cleanliness of the city.

The organisation was established in 2021 and is based in Kanana, Ivory Park.

As refuse removal remains a concern, Inhlanzeko collaborated with the community, government and companies to deliver real solutions to help clean, repair and conserve the environment.

“I was horrified and disgusted by the pollution and garbage I saw in the community regularly,” said Karabo Molokwane, the organisation’s founder.

He formed the organisation with the help of a group of friends to assist him in keeping the neighbourhood clean.

He believes that by sharing this simple idea, the local community will be inspired to engage and make a difference.

“We want to create a long-term ecosystem for current and future generations. It’s all about taking control of your surroundings, and the city can help by rallying the public around a vision of a clean, well-maintained community.

“The goal is to teach citizens about taking responsibility for their neighbourhoods, enforcing regulations, eradicating crime and grime and addressing service delivery issues,” said Molokwane.
