Leeuwkop Correctional Services offered donations to the local hostels in Thembisa as a way of giving back to the community.

Leeuwkop Correctional Services offered a helping hand to the community by donating and distributing food parcels to the nearby hostels in Thembisa on August 2.

The donations, which consisted of eggs, 1 000 bread loaves and 312 vegetable packs, were handed over to Vusimuzi and Ehlazeni hostel.

He further stated that the residents of the hostel feel privileged to receive this kind gesture as it demonstrates that they are remembered and cared for.

“I cannot express my gratitude to the Leeuwkop Correctional Services enough. We have received many promises of donations and help from various individuals, but today we were supported,” Sithole said.

Mokhemi Molefe, the acting area commissioner of Leeuwkop Correctional Service, thanked residents of the hostels for accepting donations on behalf of the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Ronald Lamola.

“The reason we are here today is that we are aware of the county’s predicament. People are hungry, which is why Lamola has sent us here to donate these parcels,” Molefe said.
