Female SAPS members from Ekurhuleni district police stations, with the EMPD, SANDF, Gauteng Traffic Department and other stakeholders, carried out an operation, starting with a parade at Rabie Ridge sports ground on August 27.

According to Ekurhuleni district communications officer Capt Nelda Sekgobela, they conducted road blocks and stop-and-searches.

During the operation, 39 traffic fines were issued to those who violated the Road Traffic Act, five illegal liquor outlets were closed, five suspects were arrested for drug possession and a social crime prevention door-to-door awareness campaign was also conducted, with pamphlets about safety and reporting channels distributed throughout the community.

“The operation ended on a good note, with groceries being donated by the members to a family in Vusimuzi informal settlement and an orphanage in Thembisa South,” Sekgobela said.
