Men march against GBV
Community members from all walks of life came out to protest against gender-based violence, criminality and corruption.
Men in black doeks hit the streets of Thembisa in August to protest against gender-based violence (GBV) and to celebrate Women’s Month with the women in the community.
According to Mordecai Ndlovu, the march was sparked by reports of women being murdered.
Community members dressed in black marched down the streets of ekasi, holding signs calling for an end to women abuse.

“Gender-based violence stems from gender inequality and is one of the most visible human right violations in the world. In a patriarchal society, abuse of women and children is viewed as a method of dominance, coercion and control over a woman or a partner. It is our obligation as men to fight this.
“We aim to educate men about the impact of violence projected towards women and children.”
