Zola 7 gives learners the platform to excel in matric exams

The learners also walked away with hampers from the higher education institutions that were invited.

Ethafeni Lounge hosted a Matrics Motivational Seminar, which saw the likes of Bonginkosi ‘Zola 7’ Dlamini attend as one of the speakers on October 27.

Lwazi Knowledge Mazibuko (Ethafeni Lounge owner) is deemed to be the visionary behind the education mentorship programme.

He said he believes in giving back to the community, youth and matriculants because he understands that managing exam stress is difficult in normal circumstances, let alone within the complexity of the pandemic.

“The aims and objectives are to help the learners pass and succeed during this pandemic that has caused fear and anxiety. We would like to assist matriculants to strive to do well through this period of hardship,” he said.

Ethafeni Lounge’s motto is Education is Power, Education is Healthy.

They invited the Class of 2021 to join them for a night in preparation for their final exams at the venue. Free Wi-Fi and tutors will be provided.

The township establishment has other programmes which target to feed 1 000 households on December 20.

“We take non-perishable foods like canned goods to help the community during the December Christmas days.

“People are welcome to contribute donations at our venue, Ethafeni Lounge located at 74 Zimbabwe Street

Thafeni Section, Thembisa. If anyone is unable to drop off any goods, we will be able to collect donations. If anyone has any enquiries, you can contact Mahlatse Kekana on 084 463 0444,” said Mazibuko.

Gugu Mabena, administrative officer at the Tshwane University of Technology in the civil engineering department, was one of the speakers who touched mostly on what learners must be on the lookout for when applying to universities.

“Most learners make the mistake of not submitting all necessary documents, as a result, their application becomes incomplete. Another thing is that learners do not pay the application fee to enable institutions to process their application,” said Mabena.

Zola 7 called on orphans to come on stage and share their story and their dreams.

As he left the pulpit, he said, “Our story is already known. It is important that we give young people the platform to tell their own stories because that is how they grow to be responsible and own their stories.”

Rapper Mthembeni “Emtee” Ndevu performed on the day.

The learners also walked away with hampers from the higher education institutions that were invited.
