Several parts of Kempton Park have been without electricity since yesterday afternoon

It is now over 24 hours since the areas experienced blackout at around 14:00 on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) on Facebook, Spartan has now also been affected.

Further internal damages were found on the step-down transformer being repaired by the team.

“This resulted in delays to the restoration process. The Spartan area has been affected due to ongoing tests on the network. Work will however continue until the power is restored.

“At the moment we do not have estimated restoration time,” CoE stated.

CoE previously reported that the power outage was due to a fault on one of the networks.

“The city is working around the clock to restore power to areas in Kempton Park, that have been affected since yesterday afternoon.

“Two faults were found on the 66KV network, and a team is already busy with repairs.”

Affected areas include:

• Nokem Park

• Birchleigh

• Glen Marais

• Allen Grove

• Aston Manor

• Kempton Park Extension 4

• Parts of Pomona

• Nimrod Park

• Bonaero Park

• Kempton Park West

• Birch Acres

• Van Riebeeck Park

• Edleen and Terenure
